The current design ethos behind every new car we make is based on what we call Ford kinetic Design. In 2004, the Executive Design Director for Ford Europe (Martin Smith) was challenged with creating a new design culture for Ford. The result was a defining moment in Ford’s recent history and a clear indication that Ford kinetic Design was here to stay.
Ford kinetic Design was first illustrated in the 2005 concept car, SAV. SAV was ultimately morphed to become the S-MAX. Since then kinetic Design has influenced Galaxy, Mondeo, Kuga, Focus, Fiesta, Ka and most recently the C-MAX. Martin Smith manages to concisely sum up what the true essence of Ford kinetic Design is, when he said: “We want to build cars that evoke an instant emotional response of ‘I want one’.”
2011 marks 100 years of Ford leading the way in the automotive field. And our commitment to making our cars safer, smarter, more efficient and more attainable for everyone – is unrelenting. To see this commitment in action then simply explore the new car section.
